3 soil problems and 3 solutions

There is the problem of soil pollution caused by the presence of man-made chemicals in the soil's environment. People are concerned about the health risks from direct contact with the contaminated soil. There are cleanups where microbes would "eat up" toxic chemicals in the soil. However, this method is too time consuming and expensive. Another issue revolves around how acid soil is destroying our crops' nutrients and vitamins. Alleviating soil chemical constraints is one way to prevent acid soil, but it's time consuming and requires extra management. Soil erosion is also a phenomenon because it makes it difficult to sustain plant growth. We are still working on a solution because soil erosion is altered by changes in rainfall and intensity, which are natural occurences.

Human Footprint DVD

Millions and billions of plastic is being used to make products needed in our daily lives. We consume over a billion pounds of food per day. We also consume lots of sugar, but some of these sugars are natural sugars from fruits, which are an important source for vitamins.

Soil Preservation

Preserving soil is more important than saving endangered species because it is the main source for our crops. Our food comes from plants, which grow from soil. If too much soil is ruined, then we won’t be able to grow crops. This endangers the human population and animals as well. We depend on trees and natural resources to survive in our everyday lives.

Green Revolution is Good

Green revolution is the transformation of agriculture that impacted the world today. It allowed food production to keep pace with the worldwide population growth. Projects on green revolution helped spread technologies that already existed. It also helped to avoid the widespread of famine.

Food Safety Policy

The FDA decided that we did not need any laws on genetically-made products. Genetically modified foods are commonly used to enhance the size, shape, and nutritional value of crops. We are consuming these foods, thinking that it is healthy for us. However, we do not know the true effects of our daily consumptions. It may cause bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics. This makes it impossible for our bodies to fight germs and bacteria.

It is not right for the FDA to allow food to be sold without testing if they have any harmful effects on humans. This is wrong because we are consuming these products without knowing how it would affect us. If I were to create a food safety policy, I would make the FDA test these products to see if they are actually good for us. The tests would ensure that the product is safe to be sold in markets. The FDA would be fined half of their profit if they do not perform the tests. But if they follow the policy, they would not be fined and the company would not be suspended.

Fruits and vegetables are a vital source for our energy and maintaining balance. They are not natural when they're enlarged or tampered with. In addition, the use of pesticides causes harmful effects to health. Although endotoxins have been in use recently, they can still cause allergic reactions to people. They manipulate the food so that it's only harmful to insects. It would be best to find other possible solutions to store food so that pesticides and/or endotoxins would not be used. It is important to take care of our food sources because the future of food is in our hands.

precautions to avoid food borne diseases

It would be a good idea to wash your hands before or after every meal. You never know what sort of germs are on your hands. You should make sure that the meat you're eating is well done, meaning it is totally cooked and not pink. Store food away properly in the refridegerator or freezer to prevent spoilage.

3 factors that lower biotic potential

The three factors are carrying capacity, density dependent factors, and density independent factors. The carrying capacity does not allow the population growth to exceed a certain amount. The density dependent factors like the pathogen would balance out the birth rate with the death rate. Density independent factors such as the hurricane and temperature would cause people to die and decrease the birth rate.
